Thanks to Don Talbott and his mother Janie for a great job with our garage sale for the children ministries. They made over $250. The sale will continue tomorrow.

Thanks to those who helped with renovating Arnold Crull’s home. Four churches came together for this project. Pastor, Joe, and Rex, spent time painting and repairing windows and walls. The following ladies prepared a meal for the entire crew on Friday: Carol, Lois, Susie, Melissa, and Malinda.

Church softball games next Friday at Richmond Diamond 1, 9:00 p.m., Saturday at Williamsburg 12:45 p.m., and Richmond Diamond 2, 6:00 p.m. Be there half of an hour early. Thanks to our coaches Seth Stomm and Richard Butler for doing a great job. Come out and support your teams.

Small group discipleship studies continue each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

The men’s group meet at the OutPost to study Tony Dungy’s Quiet Strength.

The women meet at the parsonage for devotions and will discuss future plans.

Hagerstown Faith Housing is set up for senior rental assisted living. If you know of anyone interested, call Floyd Sanders at 489-4898. There are several vacancies.

Recycle your computer printer cartridges Bring your used cartridges to the church and place them in the white box in the foyer for the daycare fundraiser.

Just a friendly reminder to continue keeping up on our building fund payment. Your faithful giving has helped keep up on all our obligations. For which we are very grateful and again say “To God Be the Glory.”

2008 Vacation Bible School

WOW! What a week we had with our boys and girls for the 2008 Vacation Bible School. We enrolled 74 kids with an average attendance of 60. The offering was near $150.

Our boys and girls went to God’s Custom Garage where Service Manager Carol directed leader mechanics to minister to the children in Tool Talk Bible Stories (Melissa/Bob), Tune Up Tunes (Candra), Gearshift Games (Karen), Filling Station Snacks (Dawn, Nancy, Sueanna), Custom Design Crafts (Amanda, Joe, Lois), and Service Center (Kathie Stomm). Preschool master mechanics were Athenia and Jasmine. Assistant youth mechanics (Derek, Allan, Gabe, Prestley, Alice, Hayley, Kennedy, Casey, and Marissa).

Master mechanic Mitchell operated the sight & sound for the music program. Calculator mechanic Rex counted the offering and the number of children each day.

The theme of our Vacation Bible School is a simple theme for all of us to live: Love God, Serve Others. Jesus showed how much God loves us and that we can love God with all our heart. Because Jesus loves us we can love God. Our sins blocked our way to God, but Jesus death on the cross can remove this barrier to God. We are able now to not only love God but also love ourselves properly. And when we have this proper love we can now love others as we love ourselves. God’s love is strong and will never fail us or let others down. With God’s love in our hearts, others can depend upon us.

It’s important to have wisdom along with God’s love. Only in God’s Word, the Bible, can we can understand how to live life as it should be lived. Reading the Bible, believing the Bible and living the Bible gives us what we need to live life to its fullest.

God has a great and wonderful plan for every life. Those who have received Jesus know this. Admit you need a Savior, believe He died for your sins, and claim Him as your Lord.

News, 06/08/08

This Saturday there is a special memorial service for Mike Bonanza at our church, 11:00 a.m., followed by lunch at the McCullough Community Center. The plan is not to have a funeral service but a big celebration service for a person who has endeared himself to many of us.

Next Sunday Dr. Ted Lee, Indianapolis District Superintendent, will be with us for the morning worship service. Dr. Lee has oversight of 65 churches in Indianapolis and the Southeast portion of the state. It’s a blessing to have him visit our church.

Next Sunday is Father’s Day. Special recognition will be given to these important people in our lives.

Softball practice is Monday at 6:00 p.m. Last Friday we had a last minute rescheduled game in Richmond in which we squeaked out a win on last year’s undefeated Fountain City Wesleyan team. This Friday’s Richmond Game is at 9:00 p.m. and Saturday’s Williamsburg game is at 3:15 p.m.

Small group discipleship studies continue each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.

The men’s group meet at the OutPost to study Tony Dungy’s Quiet Strength.

The women meet at the parsonage to watch Beth Moore’s video, Jesus the One and Only.

Thank you for your giving. We finished our church year May 31. All our district and general obligations have been met. Our mission giving was 103%. Your giving to our local expenses of salary and building fund with extra giving to the Sight & Sound is very much appreciated. “To God Be the Glory.”

Camby Campmeeting begins Monday, June 23, 7:30 p.m. with a famous mission leader, Dr. Louie Bustle. For those who wish to go we’ll carpool for the evening service. This a great time for the district family to come together and be refreshed with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Women of Faith Retreat is August 1 & 2. The ladies of our church thoroughly enjoyed last year’s event. You don’t know how much you need this time of renewal until after you go. Those ladies who plan to go this year need to see Carol Fannin or Nikki Merrill. They have extra tickets.

Hagerstown Faith Housing is set up for senior living. If you know of anyone interested, call Floyd Sanders 489-4898. There are several vacancies.

Recycle your computer printer cartridges Bring your used cartridges to the church and place them in the white box in the foyer for the daycare fundraiser.

Vacation Bible School begins June 16, one week from tomorrow. We need your prayers, presence, and assistance. If you’re able to help this week to prepare for VBS week, see Carol Fannin.

Sight & Sound has acquired more equipment to better serve our worship time. Your donations to this fund help cover the cost of our new equipment.

Thanks, Children Funfest Workers. There were approximately 60 kids registered for the games and activities. With all the parents and workers there were about 125 in attendance. We appreciate Carol organizing this event.

Alabaster offering sent for foreign missions building fund was $322.21. See what a little pocket change saved over a period of time can do. To God be the glory. Our next alabaster offering will be in February.

While a student at Indiana Wesleyan University, Pastor Fannin befriended Samuel Kariuki. Samuel and his family have been here before and the church gave them a good offering. He and his wife are from Ethiopia on a student visa. She is close to finishing her studies for nursing. Samuel has had to drop out of school due to finances. The church board has allowed a fund set up to help him finish his education.

This is not a mandatory offering, but if the Lord lays a burden on your heart for this situation, mark your gift “Samuel.”

District Primetime for our Seniors is Friday, November 16, at Indy First Church beginning 6:30 p.m. The cost is $17 for an evening of singing by the Pfiefers and a fine homemade meal. Please see Nancy or the sign-up sheet on the foyer bulletin board.

Please see the sign-up sheet on the foyer bulletin board to indicate which items you wish to donate. Thank you.
